Razzle Frazz continues his story of the “Lost Mine of Phandelver:”
The adventurers begin to clear out the caves of the Cragmaw goblin tribe by killing the wolves, goblins, and a very large bug bear by the name of Klarg within. In the midst of the fight with their chief, Valin gets knocked down while others fall as well. The remaining two adventurers (Keth and Lucien) are able to kill the rest of their enemies and try to resuscitate two of the fallen heroes but Flip loses too much blood and (being friends with Keth) says with his dying words, “It will be ok, Keth. Keep going, keep striving-.” He vanishes into a cascade of magic dust, wafting away. Keth loses it and sprints towards the other parts of the cave unknown in hopes of finding the rest of the goblins still alive. Lucien calls out to him telepathically but that doesn’t stop the half-orc. It’s not until the spirit of Flip calls out to stop Keth by mysteriously using Lucien’s telepathic powers that Keth obliges. Lucien doesn’t understand as it’s not his own voice being used but he knows what is being said through his powers. Keth returns and the party regroups for a short rest.
They continue into the cave finding a bunch of goblins who have captured a gnome. The ranger, recognizing himself as Syldar Hallwinter, begins to get out of his binds during the fight thanks to the help of his mouse friend, “Mickmouse.” The goblin sees this and kicks the rat (er, mouse) to the side. Syldar frees himself and protects the mouse with his hidden dagger. The heroes are able to kill the goblins but before they could actually spare the goblin leader to get some info. Syldar kills him for kicking his mouse friend.
Syldar is grateful for their help and offers them a reward for getting him back to Phandalin. He tells the group that Gundren was called upon to a person/organization called The Black Spider. The dwarf knows the location of the entrance to the long forgotten Wave Echo Cave (from the Phandelver’s Pact which he shares the history with the group). Gundren had a map showing the secret location of Wave Echo Cave, but the goblins took it when they captured him. Sildar believes that Klarg sent the map and the dwarf to the chief of the Cragmaws at a place called Cragmaw Castle. Someone in Phandalin might know where that is. Syldar also says his contact in Phandalin is Iarno Albrek who might be able to help them.
With the goblins dead the group tallies up a hefty haul of treasure. One including what appears to be lost goods to a merchant’s house with a blue lion symbol on their crates. The group spends the night in the cave and Keth is troubled in his sleep for the fact that Flip died by his hands. Syldar wakes him asking for the name Flip O’Malley (since Keth is repeating it in his sleep) and Keth says his friend by that name is dead only hours ago. Syldar looks troubled and goes back to sleep.
The next day the group loads up their new belongings and friend onto their wagon and by mid afternoon that day they arrive in Phandalin.
